When searching for a YT video on how to get to Amtrak South Boston station from the airport, I viewed one from an org called North American Society for Trenchless Technology. Please tell me why this org exists? What is wrong with trenches? They are installing new fiber for T Mobile in my neighborhood as I type this. While there is (very) short term ugliness, the long-term advantages (more competition) heavily outweigh it. And it is not like we all want more poles with power and telecom cables all over the place. I just can't believe there is an org like North American Society for Trenchless Technology that has regional chapters and multiple events every year.

Their motive is to change the way we think about infrastructure.

Well for us assholes in Cali, putting power poles and the like underground instead of long poles that are susceptible to high wind and power lines down, you wont see those complaints over here when they actually invest in putting them under ground. Its a big expensive undertaking here to do that and living in a more rural area they dont want to spend the money on us folks out here in the sticks. They ran fiber optic cables along the road side from a city below us a couple years ago. Only thing people complained about was the traffic it caused shutting down one lane of a 2 lane highway. Otherwise, who doesn't want faster internet?
