I find it odd that there's always rumors of WSBK trying to lure guys over from GP. They could probably co tinue to be successful pulling in Moto2 guys that have realized GP ain't happening. But a guy who is firmly secured in GP ain't going to move over until he's out of a seat and there are no more buyers in GP. Edit: the WSBK teams have to know that right? Or is there something Im missing...like a contract offer big enough to make them walk away from GP
I think you have it right. WSBK doesn't have massive contracts in general. Maaaaaybe if you're a severe multi-year back-marker in MotoGP and you're aging out you might find a better deal in WSBK? Mav is certainly not close to that position and I'm sure a handful of teams would rather sign Mav than some of their current options in MotoGP.
From the post I read, the Mav offer would come with a few more dump trucks stacked with cash than he gets now. He needs to win once on the KTM. Then head over and win on a bmw. How many manufacturers would he have won for then?
I thought Canet had that seat locked up but thats just based on internet chatter last week. If Mav wins on KTM that's 4 I believe - Yamaha, Suzuki, Aprilia, then KTM. BMW wouldn't count in the record books as it's a different series but overall - yeah - 5 manufacturers plus the ones in lower classes if we're counting all now.

He's already signed for another year in Moto2. How many good rides are there in WSBK? Rides that pay the rider and you have a chance of a podium?

Rea retiring today. Iker Lecuona replacing Alvaro at Aruba Ducati. Pieces are falling into place. Seems Miller is staying in GP to be team mates with Toprak so he isn't going to HRC in WSBK as I thought he might.
Rumor out of the BSB paddock this weekend at Cadwell Park was maybe Bradley Ray back to WSBK to take VDM's ride with BMW.
