what are you basing that # on?? I mean that might have been valid in 2016 when you could get a 4dr appliance from the off Asian mfgs or a base model single cab mini sized truck. The payment should match the estimated depreciation on a 4yr schedule and the only "down payment" should be sales tax & tags. I dont even think you can get a super low mile lease for 3 years at that payment.
I know a guy that buys a new rs6 avant every year and trades in his old one. He’s offered two to me at what the dealer offers him, I politely decline. he knows I want one badly, but I also have two little kids and I’d rather them kick the back of the seats in my SQ5. if/when he offfers me the next one, I’ll let you guys know. They’re always custom ordered with every option possible, carbon, etc. he then takes them to the euro place I tried to send Linders, to replace all the visors, etc with the euro ones that don’t have the warning labels. then gets them ceramic coated and washes all his cars 1x /week and all garage kept. He’s got one of every rs car. they’re immaculate and rarely driven.
Its not as rusted away as I thought it would be living outside in the NE winter. Once I have the replacement vehicle in the driveway, I'll probably do the PhilXV supercharge mod on it and just send it. Then do it again with a replacement engine.
The Magnum and the Cadillac wagon were insane and the Cadillac you were supposed to be able to get with a manual. I'm out of the world of those cars now that I quit. Can't even afford an Aprilia scooter I negotiated for after buyer my kid's money pit.
La la la, not hearing you. I really appreciate it but I'm out of that world now. my current tap out on a car won't even buy me a clapped out SV. I now live in a place where you can let a car eat but I'm poor AF.
Do you have a link so I can go shopping the repo yard or is it still a manual process. Please educate me... I'm in the Detroit area
I was thinking you’d buy it and then I could drive it on the BR Parkway when I’m down at the lake house!
I have relatively high payments, but I also have vehicles that historically do not depreciate very much and, in some cases, appreciate in value, so it's pretty much a wash. The articles I have ready have pointed to the tariffs having a crappy effect on the used car market.
I'd assume crappy in that tariff increases of new cars result in less trade-in volume of used cars, making used cars more expensive and less plentiful because people will hold on to/fix them rather than trade up. but I didn't read said articles.
911 is always the correct answer. I’ve driven my neighbor’s RS6 Avant. I’d tell you you’re not missing anything but it would be a lie.
IMO, a person is buying too much car then. I could be off base, given the current asking prices of cars. That just means (to me) that I need to adjust my wants downwards to a car that fits the budget I have, not the lifestyle I want to project. Get a loan through the local credit union, as it's much cheaper and less b.s. than any dealer financing.
This. It took me years to realize that a vehicle is a very necessary, yet ultimately stupid expense that we have to endure. I still lust after a multitude of cars, yet my desire to actual purchase has completely left the building. Motorcycles are another thing. I can't help buying whatever catches my fancy at any given time. And I can have a whole collection of them in my garage in the space that one play car would take up.
The rates thing is weird. I just went through this in May, and I shopped everybody. BofA had the best rate for used cars, but they won't finance private party sales. My credit union, who I have been with since I'm 18, was a 1/2 point higher. The only plus with them was that I would be able to finance a private party sale. The last time I bought from a dealership, their rate through BofA was more than a point better than my credit union. Simply put, it depends. And for what it is worth, rather than the 2022 lease turn-in Audi, we bought a 2018 V60 Polestar from a private party, and ended up paying cash. It worked out to be the cheapest option in every way.
Preach. I keep eyeing a V4 streetfighter. $30k seems like a heavy lift for a motorcycle until you plug in the fun variable. Dollar for dollar, that’s a lot of smiles for your buck.
I got out of car racing and into motorcycle racing for a reason. Even when I was just doing time attack competitions in my 1994 Miata it would end up costing me around $3,500 in consumables, entry fees, and accommodations all in for a 2 day event. Now I can do an extended 3 day race weekend for CVMA on my CBR600RR and it was around $1,800 for the race weekend, and that's if I was ballin and buying new tires for qualifying and the races. I do miss that car though, thing was fucking sick and I auctioned it off on BaT in the end.
i think ballpark... you have to spend $150k on a car to get the same sensations you might out of a $8-10k used sportbike, and or for sure a $25-35k new super special one. dollar for dollar, there's no comparison. there IS something to be said about a super cool, fun to drive car, that you can just get in whenever you want, any temperature, any time of day, to any event, and just enjoy... and not show up somewhere with a sweaty ass shirt or helmet hair, but yea, it takes a lot of money to match the sensation to me. makes buying bikes an easy trigger pull comparatively.
