Good lord people, it's on RRW - illegal frame modification. They didn't change the tank to give him more room they changed the frame/subframe in some manner.
Axtualllyyyy. Complete bullshit protest/call. it’s absolutely 10000% a comfort mod and in no way a performance mod unless you think more weight over the rear wheel is better (we’ve proven otherwise) that being said, they drilled a hole in frame to mount new plate to move seat back approx inch. for reference, Kody is at least 6-5 and there’s several 6-0-6-3 kids Landen smith also is 6-0 that being said it’s a spec class and not all kids are spec sized. Case in point, we’ve changed weight twice now as he’s hitting growth spurt and we’ve also had to get new suits made for same reason. Since Cota. Ive been a heads up competitor against Kody since about 2020 and he’s not a cheater and it’s a bullshit fucking call/ruling no matter how you slice it. you can’t build a spec bike class for kids when they are literally in the middle of their biggest growing phases and expect them to fit these little bikes. im 5-7/8 and even if I weren’t a fat fuck I could hardly get my feet on pegs. They are similar to 125 gp bikes for size reference.
Did somebody protest it? If so, that is a chickenshit protest and whoever did it should be called out. I've got a 3 ft screwdriver and I am not afraid to use it. If it is something that MA found in post race inspection, then I can see them needing to follow the letter of the rulebook and enforce the rules as written. The team should have known better and gotten permission first.
What if I told you I had firsthand knowledge that the part was shown to tech, allowed to practice/qual/race then tech decided it was illegal AFTER a protest? regardless of any of that, it’s a comfort modification. at some point a technical inspector or official should be allowed, no permitted to throw out BULLSHIT.
Firsthand experience says tech has a ton of flexibility until too many eyes and opinions start injecting themselves, at which point the rulebook becomes the hard law.
Moot point on comfort vs performance - it's illegal or not. You choose to run in a spec class and it's part of the deal.
It’s not the first time someone thought pre-race safety compliance inspection was an endorsement of class legality. Probably won’t be the last. I feel bad for the kid but we all saw the speed he is showing.
Yeah, this is one cAse where I agree it's not a performance issue and don't really consider him or the team cheaters at all. It sucks but it's part of the game, always has been always will be.
Then I still say it was a chickenshit protest and MA really had no choice but to enforce the rule as written. A frame mod is a frame mod, even if it was not a performance enhancement. I am glad they changed the rule for the future. Who was the chickenshit protester? To me that is public misbehavior and warrants public sanction.
