When you bought that stinger, if you look at the paperwork it will show you how much tags and registration was for the first year. It will drop a little each year for awhile.
That was about having to pay taxes without having any say in the matter. "No taxation without representation".
Really? So does that mean you would prefer that there be no taxes and therefore no government? No roads, no infrastructure, no police fire or military, etc, etc? I don't know about you, but I kinda like the relatively civilized lifestyle I'm able to live in this country. Perfect? Not by a long stretch, but a damn sight better than what it would be with no taxes/governmental structure.
Yeah i agree on the representation thing and yes also on organized infrastructure with a civilized setting. However - how else would you describe some (states) taking more than others? Or the people in charge of managing your hard earned tax $ doing “the greatest things” with it?
I suspect that most states take similar amounts, they just take it in different ways. Texas doesn't have state income tax, but they apparently(at least from the comments here on the beeb) have pretty stiff property taxes. Florida also doesn't state income tax, but they get a lot of $$$ from tourists via taxes/fees targeted at that segment. As far as whether the folks 'in charge' of spending our hard earned dollars do it well or not, there's always going to be shortcomings in that area depending on whether you happen to agree with the ideas/agenda of the particular (usually elected) people doing it. It'd be nice if we all agreed with their decisions, but that's fantasyland.
Just my only example I can think of,and it was a good memory. We had a fun visit, and he explained the whole tax break thingy.
I know what you meant..Taxes are a given, its more about state by state abuse. Mismanagement is the issue, but when you physically look at the paperwork for those cute little stickers, you can't help but wonder. All because you bought something nice? The more expensive the vehicle, then this person can obviously afford a 3k cute little sticker. Got an old ass 78 Cutlass? Twenty five dollars,my brother! You broke as hell!!
By registering your personal vehicles to an LLC and taking that depreciation hit, etc., wouldn’t you end up reducing your federal taxable income? I’m not a tax accountant nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
Would be the same in any state as far as itemized deductions go based on vehicle weight qualification or leasing arrangement. LLC in MD or MT still would have that line.
When you sign up for a mailbox at UPS Store or USPS or any other place that accepts mail, you need to fill out a 1583 form. Along with the 1583 form, you need to provide 2 forms of ID. One form of ID is a government issued ID with a photo (passport, drivers license, armed forces, state ID, etc) and another form of ID showing your home address (insurance card, vehicle registration card, lease, mortgage, etc). A change that was relatively recently put in place, your home address can’t be a UPS Store or post office.
I think anything over 8 yrs old in Maryland is flat rated at 65 bucks. which is crazy. there's talk of getting rid of emissions. doubt that will happen. its free money for them. we have the Virginia tags here. local places will do it for you. one time insurance waiver, since you're living out of state no smog to chase you for and your annual safety inspections are moot. so lots of VA hoopties around town. the girl was hit a year ago. t boned. her Honda fit was totalled and the car that hit her was totalled. guy had no insurance. VA registration. she had to claim the accident on her uninsured drivers coverage and paid the deductible. they did give her 12k for a 10year old Honda fit though. Maryland cant do anything about it.
Without representation. Funny story, the customs agent responsible for collecting taxes on imported goods was a distant relative of mine. He went back to England after the whole tea party. GA went from an annual tax to a one time tax at the time of purchase, new or used. Annual plate fees are nominal and my ancient LX470 is even aged out of emissions testing. For those that like to skip out on taxes, thanks for shifting the burden to those who pay.
Im no income tax expert but the issue being discussed is State sales tax evasion??? I doubt the IRS would be bothered to audit unless the State AG could not get charges presented?? We know regardless... Gov't does not like competition. I know most DMV personnel could be dismissed for ineptitude. My local DMV is a joke when scheduled routine appointments are weeks out but if I want to wait unit 4:45pm any week day, show up with a bunch of title or registration work they have to complete it.
