Wow teams are pushing these motors til they go pop. Foreshadowing the TT unless they turn the wick down. Who was the guy who went all out in the wheat field?
Big mad. NW200: Peter Hickman says 'that's probably my last ever North West' after Superbike controversy https://www.newsletter.co.uk/sport/...0Y_61c7D8m2RZulDwL_aem_HLbROkb0Ga5Ar3GuxSXNzQ
Supersports turning 180mph every lap. Apparently I really have not been paying attention to development.
Yeah, heard that several times too but think it's overly optimistic. They even claimed it at last year's TT.
I love Michael and we're friendly with each other but the penalty being skipped on him is both bullshit, and classic Northwest. There are a lot of grumbles about that race having one set of rules for the Irish riders and another set for everyone else, and this is a blinding example.
no, he just knows the rules well and thought quickly - the rule is "you must touch your foot on the asphalt in the stop box" not "you must come to a complete stop in the stop box"
Try again “It’s dead simple,” Hickman told BBC Sport NI in is post-race interview. “If you run on at a chicane, you have to stop at the stop box, put your foot down, and go again.
Hickman did at least make the most effort to follow the rules with a foot down, but failed to 100% by not stopping. MD didn't do either obviously.
Homefield advantage on full display. Love MD but thats BS on Race Directions part for both MD and Hicky (if he didn't come to a complete stop as well.)
What I found weird is NOBODY EVER gets torn down. So, it's a run what you 'think' you can keep together. When I inquired re protest/teardowns the reply was, "Your house will be torn down before you get home."
Was told by a friend that was working the NW200 a few minutes ago in relation to the reversal of 10 second penalty for MD..... the main thought of some folks in white shirts was " less is the scorn of a few English men than an entire country". And they knew Hickman would threaten not to come back also. Actually thought 8Ten would pack up and leave.
while i never discount the possibility that i might be wrong... in this case i have both done the race and specifically asked about that exact rule so fwiw, the answer i got from the head honcho Mervyn Whyte was that they look for the rider to touch their foot to the asphalt inside the stop box because that is less ambiguous (for the marshal at the chicane) than measuring speed or time. but either way it doesn't matter because Dunlop did neither of those, and clearly the organizers aren't very interested in Rules Lawyering. what's particularly frustrating is that they have cameras on all the chicanes, ostensibly for this exact reason. but apparently they just didn't want to use them. my friend sam west got hit with penalties despite not blowing chicanes. shrug.
