Listen, I am glad Suzuki is doing something to update the 1000 but when one of their biggest points in their press release is new lithium battery - color me a little skeptical about how big of an improvement this will be lol.
Its more of a Euro 5+ update to get it back in showrooms in Europe. Personally I think its still the best affordable platform for track days and club racing. We dont need another 30k literbike that is too expensive to push hard.
Last one I got (2023) was 19k out the door. If you are getting last year's model that was on a showroom floor for a few years you might get them down to 14. If you get a new one for 10.5k let me know. I'll get it too.
Last time I was shopping for a bike it was priced above an R1, which is, in my opinion, a better bike.
This either needs to be a $15k bike, or they need to do a bit more. Casio calculator dash, mid-tier suspension, meh brake calipers, no titanium connecting rods, no forged wheel options, all for more than an R1/ZX10 etc..
I picked up my ‘17 in ‘19 for $12,999 CDN so $9600 (plus taxes) USD. MSRP at the time was $17,999. The ‘26 bike has wings so for sure worth the estimated $22k USD MSRP.
From Visordown - "new crankshaft, along with crankcases, pistons, connecting rods, and a higher 13.8:1 compression ratio" ECU flash and an exhaust. Done.
As a 5'11" dude with long femurs and hip impingement in both sockets, the 06+ Suzukis have always had the best ergonomics for me. It's awesome to see the Gixxer Thou back.
