Probably on his way home from the dealer, with his first bike purchase.

I don't know over there but I know it will cost enough in Europe that they will not sell any in France. People with that kind of money will spend a little extra and get a BMW or Ducati.Reviving this thread. Does anyone know what the 40th 1000R version will cost?

There is a VAT. I watched a review of the bike a couple of weeks ago and I vaguely remember a price €21,500 (prices are quoted with VAT here) and a remark by the journalist. Suzuki France has no incentive to make bikes significantly more expensive than neighboring countries. People could just drive to Belgium or Italy or Germany to buy there.Well that would be disappointing if true here. Do you have VAT in France and / or are bike typically more expensive there than in other markets? I'm curious if it's a market dynamic in your country or if Suzuki just got optimistic with pricing?
Buying a BMW in France is risky as well. I have a friend who had their S1000RR stolen outside of Grenoble last year and there's a HUGE known BMW theft organization in France, somewhat localized around Grenoble.I don't know over there but I know it will cost enough in Europe that they will not sell any in France. I hear you, and that seems to be a majority of them, but my friend's bike was in a locked parking lot with an 8ft steel fence among about 40 motorcycles, some being new GSs. His S1000RR and one GS1250 were the ones stolen. Other GS1250s and I think GS1300s were left. The steel fence was bent open by I guess a truck and a chain? and the theives broke the steering locks (chunks on the ground left and a couple of other bikes had bent clip ons where they attempted to break steering locks). Wild experience since it felt like a very secure parking lot at a nice hotel over in Saint-Martin-d'Uriage just East of Grenoble. The theft ring was stealing adventure bikes.

For a GSXR noob such as myself I have two general questions:
- are there any setup quirks specific to the GSXR platform and
- is there anything that needs to be done preventatively to improve reliability (Troy from Motorcycle.com called out the OEM shift star as being a weak point in the transmission)?
I'm 50/50 window shopping one of these and want to learn more in the meantime.
