As someone coming from the tech/startup world, this article gives me a lot of concern about their future. We don't know the details of the deal, or really what they plan to do with the capital, but it doesn't take a Masters in Finance to know that PE increasing their holdings of a company like Stark could either be very good, or very very bad for them and the electric motorcycle industry as a whole if they someday crash. Maybe I'm a pessimist about this kind of stuff, but what do y'all think about such a large amount of investment into Stark?

My issue with Stark currently: A shit ton of stuff they promised but didn't deliver on is now going to be a subscription feature instead. Want to restrict power for race legality in some series, you need to pay monthly for that... That's some bullshit.
I think we all know that companies are doing the subscription and unlocking option approach to for two main reasons. 1) They can just produce a single bike that has all the options and lock some of them 2) They want to make more money. My question is if a competitor wanted to simply offer all the bikes with all the options unlocked, how much would they make/lose? Meaning how much more sales would they gain if they're earning respect by not having any locked options versus how many sales might they lose because they can't sell the fully unlocked / fully optioned bike for the same low price as the competitor. In addition, there's the lost revenue because there's no unlocking income (whether a one time or a subscription). I'm sure the companies have conducted the research, rick/reward analysis and found the new model is making them more money. How much more though? Maybe there's room for a compatitor to offer an "honest" practices campaign to win over buyers.
I'm pretty simple... if the sub fee actually brings value or covers a legit cost of providing X, cool. If you're making me pay just to access what is already there that doesn't cost you anything to keep enabled, get fucked.
Just saw a video today where someone was able to unlock the power restriction on a Varg, making something like 107hp, instead of 80. If the were to do a subscription, I am sure it wouldn't be long before someone figured a workaround
