Long time WERA racer Greg Ford passed away on Sunday. Due to very sad circumstances Greg chose to end his own life. I did not really wish to post this information here but also felt that all of his racing friends needed to know. Services are scheduled for Thursday night from 6-8 pm at Weavers Mortuary in Knoxville, TN.

The reasons are of a personal nature that don't really belong on here. :(

I have known Greg somewhat through riding for several years but just got to know him fairly well over the last two race seasons. We have lost one of the great sportbike and club racing enthusiasts. Greg was a very generous guy who was a huge help to me during my breif shot at racing. He really didn't even know me all that well at the time but he and Suff were always there to help me out. Things have been a total fog since I got news of this yesterday afternoon.

Greg my friend you will be missed greatly. :(
 
:( I heard of this news late yesterday as well and my heart just sunk. As RCjohn said, the reasons are personal and we all will never really know why, but the point is that we have lost a great friend, a great guy, a great racer, and a member of our racing family. :(

I also was upset to hear this yesterday. I didn't get to spend much time with Greg, but when we spoke he was always very nice. He will be missed.
 
I'm so sorry. If you guys need anything let me know. Greg was a person I always talked to whenever I went racing. We raced side by side quite a bit. I will miss him greatly.

Truly a tragedy.

I met Greg and Suff a few years ago, but really didn't spend much time with Greg until this year on our endurance team. His passion for motorcycles was infectious and his no whining attitude was refreshing. He was very generous and intelligent as well. He took to endurance racing like a fish to water.

One thing I know is he loved racing bikes. He loved it from the drive to the track to getting the checkered flag. All of it. I only wish I had time to really get to know him even better and share more good times with him.

Good-bye Greg. It just won't be the same here without ya man.... :( :( :(
 
All my prayers and thoughts are with Greg's family. My family will always remember Greg and always have great thoughts and also have alot of love for him. Godspeed Greg.........
 
I also have known Greg and Suff for a couple of years. Heck, we all had dinner after Barber where I had one too many bottles of Saki. Greg, although a quiet person, always seemed to have great sense of humor, love for the sport, and dedication to his life. It's ashame that he has been through and overcome so much adversity in his life, it's hard to imagine anything that would facilitate this.

I met Greg a couple of years ago when he started to buy VP fuel from me at the track and this year I got the chance to ride endurace with him. Greg will be missed.:(
