I called the who sent out that info about the track already moving dirt. He said the dirt being moved appears to be for another access road to the facility. He was told it's part of the process when something like this ( AI/data center/amazon facility etc.) is going to be built. He said that he has spoken with folksfirt hand at the track and EVERYONE has said the place is closing and that there is an auction being planned to sell off stuff. Also I'm not going to share it but there is direct communication from the owners that they are closing and the facility has sold. With all that being said I think it ridiculous that people are trying to prevent the sale of a privately owned facility/land. If I owned a business and an opportunity like this came up (where you can profit beyond your wildest expectations) I would be pissed that folks were trying to prevent the sale. This is a dream come true for any business owner in my opinion. I used to attend the BeaveRun investor days so I have been going to that track for a long time and I'm sad to see it close. It was one of my top 3 favorite tracks in the country but this petition stuff is pathetic.
I would like to give everyone an update on the subject as I had a 30+ minute conversation with the Track Manager on Sunday after an N2 trackday. 1. The Track Manager Deb has been there for 11 years and her knowledge of the situation and the facility are not in question in any way. 2. There is no construction or deconstruction that I saw of any kind at the facility, other than mementos being taken. 3. Over the past 6 years, about $15,000,000 was invested in improving the facility. 4. The purchase price of the land and facilities is $200,000,000. 5. A group of racers (not sure who) offered the owners $20,000,000 to keep the facility a race track. It was turned down. 6. Jim and Cathy Stout are quite wealthy with other business ventures like Coastal Pet. 7. Jim is somewhere around 84 years old and Cathy is in her late 60's. 8. Jim has two kids to a previous mariage and both of them are independently wealthy in their own right. 9. Deb stated that there is zero chance of the track being salvaged. 10. She has even put in an application to work at Summit Point, knowing her time is limited at Pitt-Race. I had the pleasure of riding Pitt-Race one last time this weekend and I will cherish the time that I spent there over the last 22 years. I spent the last couple laps just taking it all in and luckily a friend was behind me and actually got it on video. As I left the facility on Sunday night, I was definitely heart broken that I would never again visit this track. I will miss riding there and hanging out with my friends in paddock.
I’m not mad at the owners who sold. I’m mad at the people/corporation that bought it. Fuck you. Plenty of land out there. You didn’t need to buy this property.
As a small business owner, those numbers are bonkers. If someone offered me 5 million for my slice of hell I'd sell in a heartbeat, everyone else be damned. So for 200 MM, yeah, I'm selling and sorry folks but that's life.
Right? Plenty of open land around there. Doubt at their age it's on the table, but they could pocket a big chunk of that and go build another track close by.
Eh, dunno. At current income/financial situation, yeah def I'm selling for 5 mil. If I'm already quite wealthy and my kids are set too, I'd keep it a race track.
I’d sell it, that’s generational life changing money. You could always take the interest after a couple years and build another track, if you still want to supply a racetrack.
Define "quite wealthy" ... and your ability to walk away from $200MM, and, an endless number of headaches. Probably 1000X your current net worth. If not more. I'm sure most track owners are like this at the end of most weekends. Similar to Mongo's daily state of mind after creating the beeb.
Thats the rib in the NE, midwest, and other dense metropolitan areas... there arent many venues within a few hour drive. It just dawned on me that for 2026 season ANEC (formerly NEPG) has 10 national enduro events... 4 of them within an "easy drive" of the northeast. (NY, PA, NH, & WVA). The midwest gets (IL, OK, OH, MS)... then the 2 obligatory SE events in GA & SC. I did the Gobbler Getter in AL a few weeks ago... they did not sell out the usual 800 entries... roughly 180 vacant spots or near 23% less entries than the prev years. It usually sells out a month before being its the last national race of the season.
Maybe they're playing big brain underwear gnomes 4D chess. Sell property for $200m. Bet on not that much (massively transforming) work getting done. AI bubble finally pops. Buy back property for $10M Rebuild track.
I was just about recovered from loosing Pitt Race and now you gotta pick at the scab.... I was having a bout of vertigo last October so I didn't ride much....double disappointment! Nice video.
