The robber barons are engaged in a full throttle assault for AI supremacy. Their target is land for large IT data centers and access to ample electric power now, not 5 years from now after environmental reviews and permits and construction are completed. Building on greenfield and greyfield land out in the boonies allows them to shortcut the process. There are several competitors but their unifying belief is that what happens in the next 10-15 years with AI will determine who is a king and who will be a serf for the next 1000 years of global empire.
