New RS250 to me

    Hey All,
Picked up a 2000 RS250 cup bike last week. I've been looking for a track day weapon for the past couple years. Not a lot of options in Ontario, Canada. Bike started and seemed to run great.

    Couple questions;

Looks like it's missing a cover - see pic. Do you know what this would be called to order? Or don't worry about it.

I took the right side pipe off and poured about 1.5 liters of fuel out of it. Why would there be so much raw fuel in the pipe? Left pipe had zero.

Fuel in the pipe would lead me to wonder if it has a manual petcock that was left open. Or a vacuum petcock that isn't functioning to shut off the fuel. Thus, the fuel valve in that carburetor bled fuel into the engine and then the expansion chamber. Haven't been around the Suzuki/Aprilia engine in a long time (and I didn't have to work on them at all), but someone's gonna come around and say something more.

There's normally a cover over the oil injection pump, which you don't have installed. I don't see any reason to install one. You're missing the front sprocket cover too. I don't have one on my Cup bike either.

I had a lot of fuel mixture in one of my pipes (although nothing like 1.5L!) when I got it. The plug wire on the offending side came apart when I removed it. My guess was that it was run a bunch on one cylinder while the previous assemble-monkey tried to get it running well enough to sell it to some idiot (me).

And FWIW, if I had no bike at all, I’d love that as a project bike…….that I’d actually put money into it

Its common for these things to flood gas thru the petcock while transporting the bike, when its bouncing up and down in a trailer, for example. The fix is to install a dry break in the fuel line and disconnect while not running the bike. Congrats on the purchase! Great bikes!

Super appreciate the feedback fella's. Thanks.

I ride a 1000 on the track now so I'm super excited to have this bike in the stable as a completely opposite type of ride.

@motion....I picked up the bike 3hrs hours away and it 'bounced' down the highway all the way home.

@mikefennel.....funny. The seller told me all it needs is rear pads.....right. See pic of 'only needs pads'

It has Jollymoto exhaust. Upon tear down I found that one of the silencers has a hole ground through it from a crash. I just ordered Tyga silencers.

Would anyone have a service manual for a 2000 cup bike? I can't seem to find one on the www

    Thanks in advance

Oh boy... if we go down The Hip rabbit hole I'll be here for days. Parts have just started rolling in for my 'rear pads only' winter project

I didn't realize that's not the spot. Seems like it works? Any insight where and why I should move it? I'm all ears on this learning journey

Seems really horizontal to me. Somewhere down on the left side engine cradle frame is normal.

Thanks, I'll look at repositioning it.

    Next question.
I bought new exhaust gaskets as the right side was leaking. I bought OEM using the part number I found online. Part 8119356. The part bag has that sticker on it but it's over top of a Suzuki label. Trouble is the gaskets that arrived are way bigger, 10mm wider. Seller (ebay Germany) doesn't take returns, weird.

FYI - The Tuning Works UK are extremely helpful also on cross referencing parts Suzuki/Aprilia.
