So is this realistically where we are at this point? Will there be more baggers than superbikes? I was so pumped with the rumors circulating around the end of 24. Especially about Honda. But the rumor mill has been getting pretty bleak lately. 1 Tytlers Beaubier BMW ??? 2 Attack Gagne Yamaha 3 Attack Fong Yamaha 4 M4 Escalante Suzuki 5 M4 SDK Suzuki ??? 6 Warhorse Herrin Ducati 7 Flo4law Smith Yamaha 8 Honda Beach Honda ??? 9 Honda Gillim Honda ???
Well baggers are where the money and eyeballs seem to be. I don’t remember the numbers, but a couple years ago they were posted and baggers had way more viewing audience.
With the talent migration to SuperSport this may be the beginning of the end of SBK. Not that they have to be the savior of the class, but I think if Rahal fields a SBK in ‘26 that may help retain it. They’d be a good roadmap for outside influences to get on board.
Ideally you would see JR teams moving up. Rahal would be perfect and add so much. It is reminding me of Canam racing in the 80's. You would shell out big bucks to go to a race and find out their was 8 cars in the field! If baggers is the focus I won't be watching myself. I want the fastest on the fastest, you know, like the rest of the whole world. And speaking of world, I want to see North Americans win here and take on the world. I think this will be a crucial year for MA. They need to decide what they want to be. If the SB class can not attract teams and sponsors ( where are they?) adapt or die. Knock the electronics to spec? $$$ The richest country on earth with over 350 million and I see more sponsorship on Woman's curling. Something is not jiving. Maybe Liberty taking over MotoGP and WSBK will help build an audience in NA? MA can piggy back off that. Fingers crossed we get some good news in the next few weeks.
I don't doubt it. So does napcar over Indycar. Does not make it better. Makes it sad. It is straight out of DMG. Man look what they did to sportscars in the 2000's with the Daytona Prototypes. FUGLY dumbed down cars compared with the rest of the world. Slow too.
I'm sure there's a lot of people who like watching fast bikes, but personally idgaf how fast they go. I want good Racing. I can count on 1 hand how many superbike races I watched when Gange or CamB was 2 hours ahead of everyone and all we got to watch was him do parade laps. That shit is boring as fuck. I get way more enjoyment watching Jr Cup kids, and twins cups riders bangin bars and laying on each other than I do watching superbikes try not to get lapped by 1 single guy the whole season. Take the lap times off the screen and you cant tell if SuperSport is faster than Jr Cup unless you've been watching this a long time. I think superbike is just getting too expensive to make sense for the majority, but what do I know.
I agree I love great racing. I watch Sb, SS, JR, Twins religiously. But part of that for me is watching the riders strive and move up. Without Sb that is going to be that much harder. And with all the money going to bubba bikes it will get worse. I only have so much time and I never miss all the classes in GP and Wsbk/ Wss.
Interesting to see what the KRSR Kody Kopp Talent Cup team shows up with this year. Who does he chose to run the team? Who all is working on the bike? How big does he go?
Bryce Prince Racing Bryce is a MA guy who builds race bikes over here in So-Cal. Front runner also with his bikes at CVMA right now. Hayes has been racing CVMA consistently every month and up front with leaders.
Baggers has got to expand. I want to see a gold wing in the mix. I want to see an R18 bmw out there. Cmon, let’s make this a real circus! The longer they wait the farther behind they fall to Harley and Indian. Give the newcomers unlimited engines until they start to win then apply rev limits. That would be a show!
My buddies and I keep joking around that we'll know bagger is big time when we see an HRC Goldwing out there.
