I need to fix a couple pin holes in a steel hydraulic reservoir. It's not pressurized.

What flavor of JB Weld should I use, or is there a better brand I should use?
 
The fast dry JB Weld doesn't seem to be as strong, use the normal stuff. Make sure you have a fresh / new package (in my experience it seems to age once you crack it open and close it back up and not work as well). Clean whatever you're sticking it on and make sure it's oil free.

I love the stuff, find it extremely useful.

The stuff that makes it cure fast isnt as strong as old faithful...pretty common in chemicals. And fresher is usually better.

For that regular would be fine, cleaning off the old oil I key with whatever you use.....like clean it a bunch. And then clean it again.
 
JB weld makes a fuel tank epoxy. My guess is the hydraulic oil is much less corrosive than petrol. So if it's not pressurized, that's probably what I would choose. But there's almost certainly a calculator to tell you which of their products to use for which application right?
 
The pin holes are in the factory welds. Tried going over them but it still seeps. Should have hit it with a torch first like suggested above but never thought of that. At this point I just need to stop the leak, I'm tired of taking it apart, then putting it back together putting 5 gallons of fluid in and it still seeping.
 
When I was 22 I “repaired” a ‘98 GSX-R750 case with JB Weld. Made a little form out of duct tape, filled it with JB, then tapped it and dropped a helicoil in it…

…and sold the bike. If anyone here bought it, consider this a formal apology.
 
Repaired an SV radiator with JB Weld stick in the middle of an endurance race, 20 minutes later back on track and the repair held long after that weekend.

I fixed the case of an old Honda 750-4 with JB weld and a beer can after the chain broke. Forgot all about it and sold it to a buddy, 5 years later he was changing the front sprocket and asked if I knew that the cases were repaired. I apologized and we both still laugh about it. As far as I know the repair is still holding, I bet the Motel 6 where I fixed it still smells like oil :-).
