Have family near a Frontier hub and we'll travel back and forth a fair amount. We typically need very little luggage so we don't worry about the extra expenses. My kids still get put next to me even without having to pay for seat selection. Multiply your ticket x3 or x4 and the savings are significant.
Proof positive those guys don't give a shit if they bring the jet back Code 2 or Code 3. And about the helmet bag, if he looks confused, it's because crew chief isn't holding it for him. Where you in ATL on or about the time of that melee?
Did anyone see this? I happened on it while viewing an unrelated YOuTube. She be talking about, 'It's not racist, it's reality'
Never again. Spirit charged me $100 each for two carry-ons at the gate. Just did a summer trip to Nashville w/ my daughter. Return flight was Spirit. Checked in online the day before coming home - I didn't get or maybe didn't see an option to select and pay for carry-ons. I'm usually pretty good at navigating and setting up this kind of stuff. But as soon as I selected our seats it gave me a confirmation and said check in bags at the terminal. Had no bags to check so we went straight to the gate. Got to the gate and attendant informed me I should have checked them and paid for them at the terminal counter even for carry-on, not at the gate. At the terminal it was $45 for each carry-on, at the gate it goes up to $100. I told them check them then. I was told they couldn't do that at the gate. Not sure what I was supposed to do then with 20 people lined up behind me. $200 gone in an instant. But more frustrating was the lack of accommodation from their site to any notices I got to the gate attendant.
If I checked bags I would be all about this. But I do carry-on and need to make sure I have a spot above so I need to get on early. My status usually helps with this. Especially most trips are international with a domestic leg, having my bags got lost on the way out and had to buy jeans in asia which felt like I was wearing womens jeans.. I carry on always.
3 things: 1) I agree with @05Yamabomber if I’m traveling for work, I never check bag unless it’s golf clubs clubs so I’ll board in group 1-3 on delta always so I can get bag up. 2) if I’m checking a bag, very seldom I’ll wait til the end. I always sit in the aisle and hate getting beat up with people’s shit boarding. My bag checking trips are with family, have 2 kids 3&5 so still always have a carry on or two so board when we’re supposed to get bags up. However, when they were both under 3, I would board or my wife would board to get bags up and the other would keep kid off until very end. It keeps them from sitting plane an extra 30-45 minutes causing chaos. lastly, I know you’re all gonna hate this, but my kids are 3 & 5 now and they wanted their own suitcases. So today, we flew from SNA —> ATL —> ROA. My wife and I checked our big suitcase and had the kids push their own carrry ons. it was awesome. We told them they needed to follow inline and they couldn’t really run, etc so they actually had some responsibility and were angels all day. I can’t stand when I trying to grab a late connection or even worse hop and earlier flight on a work trip and I’m dodging kids that are running amuck/ dragging and suitcase, etc. but it worked well today.
That’s cool you did that. Maybe because I don’t fly weekly for work anymore, I enjoy seeing kids out and about. Usually makes me smile and think about great times I’ve had with mine. We just flew back from Amsterdam, two rows up a couple had their baby who cried on and off the entire flight. I actually felt bad for them. Just put in my headphones and read or watched Breaking Bad. On subject, I usually check bags now and board early enough I can throw my backpack above. My legs are too long to put it in front of me. When I traveled for work I carried on and didn’t check bags, except the early years when I had to check a PC, printer, and sales propaganda for demos, before laptops existed. Lolol
