Sorry, I stopped drinking almost 15 years ago…….so not sure what the question is :D If you’re asking about pistol red dots, I can’t help. All my pistols are irons only. I’ve thought about one for one of the 19’s and a 43x that both came milled for one. But just never looked into using one. When I’ve shot with my b.i.l., that does testing for FN, he’s let me use a couple that had dots. It messed with my eyes, and seemed a pain getting on target oddly enough…….at first anyways. I just need more time with one. So I guess I’m with you here…….maybe a RD on the 43x would be nice at least for training

@Canadian Bacon is it possible the brightness was set too high for night time?
Sometimes on my 510C if the light is low enough, I need too reduce the brightness to avoid blur.

It’s an adjustment (Is that a pun?), but once you get it sorted….for me there’s no going back. I cannot see irons for shit anyway anymore, so going back is mostly a foregone conclusion.

Anyone else can chime in and correct me…but hopefully I can “articulate” this:

With iron sights (it’s been a while since I shot that way) your focus is on the front sight being centered in the notch of the rear sights, and the target is in the background. Then you superimpose that “sight picture” on the target in the background and make the gun go BANG, then look to see where the round hits.

Now I cannot do that anymore ‘Cuz bifocals. At arms length, the rear sights are blurry and the front sight is blurry…that arms length distance is the “transition space” for my glasses to go between distance and readers. I have a hard time getting clear vision trying either part of my glasses so I’m screwed. And trying to focus front sight OR rear sight with both eyes open….that’s just a special place in hell for me now.

Red Dots (prefer green if I can get it) save the day…I’m Target Focused (I believe is the correct term). I look at the target..and bring the gun to it….I see a little red or green where I want to put a round and my index finger makes the gun go BANG. Then there’s a little hole in teh cardboard where I was looking (both eyes open).

Maybe that will help you @britx303 adjust to a dot next time you get a chance.

Denise is left eye dominant and right handed….so she had the worst time with iron sights. She’s a MUCH better shooter with a dot on her Staccato CS…Last weekend I zeroed my Atlas Erebus with a Holosun 507 Comp on it then left a 20 round mag with it on the counter for her to get her first shots in with that gun. First run…she was at 10 meters into a 3 inch bullseye stacking rounds through the same hole just expanding it a little here and there. Like f*cking deadly accurate…..it was fun to watch and fun to see the look on her face after. She’s come a hell of a long way as a shooter.

I know the day will come……..so for now I’m gonna keep on keeping on till my eyes say no more. Made it a point to stay off the damned computers and this stupid little smatfone as much as possible , when I noticed some blur if I quickly went to shoot after looking at this thing. Your explanation makes sense without a doubt. Just don’t know what I want, and by the time comes I need it, something better will be out.

lizard84 I like people but then they start talking

I’m going to have to post something on topic soon, we sold our condo in Sunset Beach on TI and purchased a house. Closed on the sale and the purchase on the same day, first order of business was acquiring my first gunsafe, it’s a big sucker, so I better get busy…

    Steeltoe What's my move?

Yes, the videos of Sig P320 going off in the holster while merely being moved are a training issue.

Anyone want a rare breed frt? I’ve blasted all my cheap 55gr and can let it go cheaper. Put a h2 buffer in and let it rip

has anyone used a Super 42 Braided Wire Buffer Spring and Buffer Combo, H3 or the vltor a5 system? got an 11.5 that I'm trying to soften up the recoil

  12. Nope. Funny you mention that because I’ll give it a wiggle and get pretty close with button presses before I even look. When I’m done using the gun it goes back to daytime settings.

Sig recently started spamming the hell out of me. Maybe they're getting desperate, trying to reclaim customers. You'd thing their marketing team would be smart enough to segregate their mailing lists though. My email address should be in the group labeled "Annoying customers who expect our striker-fired pistols to function properly".

I think this is probably a workable conclusion. The OA Defense 2011 is effectively what Sig launched with some design changes. If they didn't relabel the OA gun, I'm sure they likely licensed the patent on how to get the 320 style mags to work and the basic architecture of the gun. I did a quick google search, but didn't see anuything related to OA licensing their patents. However, Sig was awarded a lot of patents in 2025; nothing specifically calling out 1911 or GTO though. With that said, if I were the CEO of OA defense and Sig dropped this gun I'd be pretty annoyed as it is directly competes with the OA product.

Thank you for the breakdown. It appears that the p211 has MIM parts. This reddit post provides a great owner's breakdown of the gun.

For this price point, it would be hard not to go with a Bul or even the Kimber 2k11.

Only issue I see with the Bul pistols is their proprietary mags. Where do you get them? Nobody carries these guns or accessories for sale. Only talked to one guy that has one.

    They’re like unicorns.

IMG_0418.jpeg 11.5 556 . I was getting 2650 avg FPS with black arc ammo. Pretty crazy numbers. Regular 77 grain was 2450 fps

Bul has a US webstore and you can buy magazines from them directly: https://ustore.bularmory.com/products/magazines--magazine-accessories

More importantly, however, depending on the model, Bul sends you 3-4 magazines with each gun. To me, that minimizes the concern and once you have more than 1 you'll have 7 or 8 magazines.

It would be prefered that they use a standard 2011 pattern magazine, but the proprietary mag issue, at least with Bul, isn't really a deal breaker IMO.

Thanks for posting that….Bul’s pricing on some really good pistols is damed reasonable.

Happy to share. I agree. I have their EDC and it is one of my favorite pistols hands down and I've signed up for the waitlist for the TAC COMP. I know I brought up the whole conversation around buying an Atlas, and I still really appreciate the company for its craftsmanship to the product, but I just can't justify the premium. I also believe that the 2011 market is going to normalize (price wise) as more products like the Kimber and Sig (for better or worse) come to market. I think $2500 and under is going to be the new norm for these products. Not $6K +. The only downside to the Bul guns is that they are so good out of the box that you really don't need to do anything to them. I mean, you can, but there's no performance improvement to be gained by doing so. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
