HONDA NSF 250 R

Does anyone know what classes a NSF250R can run, I've never run a single cylinder before so not sure if its limited or if it fits in most categories of single Four stroke water cooled.

F2 for sure

Problem is it’s a GP bike and not a og road going machine converted to race.

5. SUPERBIKE: Machines intended for use on public roads in their origins with more than 1000 units available worldwide may be changed or modified, to any degree, with the following restrictions:
a) In Superbike the original combination of frame and motor must be maintained except in the case of similar models with directly interchangeable engines. Single cylinder machines may use any engine, frame, and fairing combination.
b) 2 stroke GP machines will not be allowed to participate in Superbike (based) classes unless otherwise noted.
6. FORMULA 1, FORMULA 2, FORMULA 3 and CLUBMAN (or any subsection of a class that specifies Formula Rules) Have no restrictions other than displacement, fuel limits as outlined in Chapter 8, and configuration as outlined below.

The rule for E SS specifically states that the bikes do need DOT approval. All of the other SS rules would apply, so no motor work or frame mods, etc. but the NSF as delivered would be legal.
Well when we raced the Moriwaki which has less performance was not legal in an e class. I believe D super bike always ran with F2 and that’s what we ran in.

There was also a 125 class that they always ran in

F2 used to be for 600 I4s too… won many of F2 races as they were good contingency paying races… same guys with some 250 GP bikes thrown in…. Fun races to play with those two strokes… met some good friends like that

You're right, I never noticed that. Does say full EPA approval still though. I have never seen one run in E SS.

While it appears to be legal for E SS, I don't think that was intentional and don't agree that it should be there. There are 4 other classes where it would be more appropriate, IMHO.

That was a "different" F2,but I remember racing in that class too on an Honda Rs 250,and also running some F1 races as well. That particular F2 time was pretty bad ass, cause it was all 600's and 250's. Back in the Lee Acree 250 racing days, and I had a few on a 600 before I totaled it.

Superstock machines are defined original motorcycle manufacturers equipment intended for use on public roads….. a nsf250r is not that.

“

That’s how I met @A. Barrister Geezus dogfuck man…. That was 30 years ago now… he even came to mid O to see me this summer! Jamie’s Aprilia was the coolest 250 I’ve ever seen… pristine!(I tried to tag your ass last post and the A. Threw me off… and I was too lazy to keep looking:))

I met Jeff Vos in that class too and while he had an Aprilia and an Honda 250 his shit was worse than a clapped out sv650 or a @britx303 level FZR400 I’m guessing…parts falling off all horribly prepped and beat to shit bodywork… dude could ride though… would’ve been neat to see what he could’ve done if he didn’t actually do the work on the bikes :)

:crackup:WTF??!!…….actually I did fairly recently tried to take my main FZR and drop it off to a well known place, and had a large chunk of cash(for the first time in my life) was trying to drop off with the bike and give it the works. They are too busy to take my crap, but I really wanted them to get my shit properly sorted.

and yet, the E SS rules specifically state that the bikes in that particular class do not need DOT approval. I suspect WERA has made specific exemptions in their rules for a reason. They also state in D SBK rules that singles run under Formula rules.

Would be interesting to hear @Mongo reply. When my son raced, the E class was for 250 Ninja and bikes like that. Those would get smoked by a NSF250R. Maybe they made those exemptions for some gray-market street bikes?

I was just guessing man… the fzr400 is the sv650 of the last generation:)
