I’m the opposite and want more tool… expanded more complex but the same trajectory and feel that’s what we’ve got… I’ve always said Tool is always Tool… they have other projects for their exploration and some of its great and some of it sucks… but Tool is always great… Clutch is one of the few that have had explorations that I’ve liked… to blues to metal and back to pure rock fury… Pearl Jam was great for 2 1/2 albums then they can suck donkey balls… and I like Gossard and McCreedy’s sound.. on many other projects
Completely agree and I think Carina Round is the source of the great songs from them like Remedy and Grand Canyon… but like @cha0s#242 and I have discussed Maynard is the least influential of the Tool members he spends too much time with Less Claypool or trying to be reverend Horton heat at times Perfect Circle too really… different but equally as take it or leave it for me
The Kiffness is a South African musician who records his cats and then lays down instrumental tracks for some interesting effects. His latest single, "Eating the Cats", is based on recent events. You can find his stuff on Apple Music and Spotify.
https://music.apple.com/us/album/shakira-mtv-unplugged/207203417 This is real music @motion back before she became whatever she is now… she sings with a passion in her native language… I haven’t listened to anything she’s made since… I think the producer of the MTV Unplugged albums must’ve been one of the best because all of those albums are spectacular… don’t even know who it was or if it was one person…
There’s a few mtv unplugged that will never be seen or heard. They released the ones that would sell.
Whose? That’s interesting as why would they record anyone they didn’t think would sell? Did shows go bad or artists too messed up? I mean listen to this one song Dave… https://music.apple.com/us/album/tú-en-vivo/207203417?i=207204376 I first heard this in Central America and it’s been 25 years and it’s just beautiful… the acoustics on the unplugged albums is right up there with Johnny Cash’s last album… and the mix of instruments like on this one and 10k maniacs makes them timeless.
I think, there are a lot of artists who are/were better solo acoustic than the bands they played with. Chris Cornell, Sully Erna, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Eric Clapton, and Chris Stapleton are several that come to mind.
Gonna have to disagree on the Chris Cornell being better by himself. Soundgarden was a hell of a band, especially in the Badmotorfinger era.
I agree on that too…. I think he was a phenomenal front man that inspired and connected to his band mates to bring greatness. From Soundgarden to Temple of the Dog to Audioslave some great music(except black hole sun ), but his solo performances that I’ve seen online lack that greatness.
Black Hole Sun sucked. That was the beginning of the fall of Soundgarden for me. I saw that tour live and it sucked balls.
Dude if I ever get back to Quebec… we’ll have to take in some music… so many similarities in our musical tastes and opinions I too nearly stopped listening to them… I couldn’t even blame it on the overplay of Black Hole Sun… they recorded the piece of shit have a little pride fellas
It was overplayed, no doubt, but it was a great song. Superunknown was an excellent album, a little more sublime than Badmotorfinger, and a lot more refined and polished. Badmotorfinger was raw. Never listened to Down on the Upside, other than hearing Pretty Noose. Liked that one, too. Getting older and less head-bangy, I can appreciate the evolution of musical styles a band undertakes. Except Metallica. Fuck them!
While some of the lyrics from Black Hole Sun were poignant, it was mostly forgettable and certainly overplayed. Back at some roots today driving around getting hurricane snacks. Big hair metal- Cinderella, Warrant, Ratt etc..
My original Ratt Cassettes are still in my 68 Firebird 400 right where I put them in 1985 when I bought them both… I was 14… damn…
Because I hate you all… I’ll share with you what’s stuck in my head this morning. You can thank me later.
