Forge all done for now. It works, but there is still a bunch of little things to do to it like tong racks, shelf, side draft hood etc.
Nice garage and obviously nice beetle. Will that be filled up with your CNC, or does it go somewhere else?
Thanks. For as long as I can remember they were sitting behind the back shed at my dads place. Rusted solid to an axle for 30+ years, and when he moved last year he brought them here. They're finally back in business.
I have a full 2 car separate from the house for Tinkerland. That's that main 4 car on the house. It's way oversized too.
So is that coal fire on top...forced air in from the bottom via the T and then clean out to a pail when done?
Yes, you got it. I have an old hand crank champion blower for it. If anybody is interested I documented the whole build here. https://canadianhobbymetalworkers.com/threads/coal-forge-build.8106/
That’s awesome. One thing I don’t like about California garages, they are small. I have a 4 car that’s really a small 3.75, I could possibly get the lotus in the smallest stall although that stall is storage and workbench/ cabinets. You can get a car in and have plenty of room all around, where we get a car in and barely have room for a compressor or roll around tool box etc in front. I have actually grown to love smaller lots though. We have a big lot for here, around 12k sq ft, but that’s plenty for the dog and to water/keep up.
I bought almost 10 acres but there's noy a blade of grass in sight. Nothing but some bush trimming and blowing leaves in the fall.
It's a 3600V model, I had to get these (have 4) over the cheaper DX models due to door interference. If I had a DX6 and went to Y0. the lug would hit. I'm glad I bought them when I did, pricing on them now is crazy.
I like the extra Y they provide, and they do take up less space, but the screws aren't as smooth, and they clog much more easily. Plus that stupid screw support pops those clips and comes off, but that's on the DX4.
Has the neighbor encroached at all in the Vee section of your property line? Not much distance to the garage and your line.
There is no neighbor there yet. The other house you see is the only one and she is never there. Her husband passed during the I.Q. Flu and she does not come up to the house very often. I am keeping people I know that want to live in the area apprised of its status. She will likely sell in the not too distant future. I already know the other couple that owns the only other lot on the corner. They live not far from me now.
Found a pair of these in the box on Craigslist for 40 bucks. 1986 B&O RL60 Redlines. original price was $450. They rattled and I found the bass radiator membrane failed on both, see r/s metal plate unconnected
