Looking forward to seeing an American in WSBK for a couple rounds, although Gagne didn’t do too well previously. Lets go Fonger!
I'm stoked. Bobby seems to be able to pull shit out of his ass under pressure so I'm carefully optimistic.
This will be fun to watch! Fonger is about the get a big ol' reality check, but you know he is excited for it! -T
This is cool and I'm glad the team is doing it. I think Gagne showed that finishing in the points would be considered a success, especially on the Yamaha. I'm sure they learned a lot from last time and hopefully that will help them be more prepared for this attempt. Plus doing two rounds can only help too. It would be awesome to see Herrin over there as well; maybe as a wildcard on one of the Ducati teams?
So they want to dabble in WSBK on Pirelli control tires at tracks they have no data on? I hate to be a negative nancy but I don't get it.
At the Indy GP for the Attack wild card on that beautiful CRT he built… Richard decided Friday night that the “other firing order” was better!! Took the engine out and changed it and the spare to the other firing order… think about what that takes… crank cams etc… building two engines Friday night let alone all the other tasks at a MotoGP race! I don’t think shying away from challenging conditions is on his radar… might not always be the best for results but depends on his goals I guess
Richard likes a challenge. They did it 2 years ago (I think) so they aren't going in completely blind.
Agreed. Bobby has been been riding great this year. And still, with how competitive 3rd thru 15th now is in World SBK, if Bobby can be top 10 that'd be hugely impressive.
I saw Richard at Chuckwalla once and they were testing the CRT bike. I went over to him and asked, “what are you testing today?” He looked at me with a straight face and said, “my patience.” Then he spent a fair bit of time talking bike development with me when I knew he had more important things to tend to. He was a very likable person who obviously thinks on a completely different plane than the rest of us.
I first met him at Mid Ohio in 08 when I had Stoner’s GP bike in my garage for the the IndyGP gig… our garages and rigs were next to one another… I was sleeping trying to rest for my big race day and his generator fires up at 4:30am! He decided he had a better idea for Chaz Davies’ engine and was building a new spec… he came into my garage that night when we closed the doors and looked under the clothes of that Desmosedici…. he’s a wealth of knowledge and an innovator… one of the last ones left of that caliber in my opinion
WERA BBS: You know what we need, more Americans on the world stage!! Fonger gets a couple wild card rides at some very cool world stage tracks. WERA BBS: I don't know why he is going and wasting the money. He's going to get smoked! I swear. Some of you f@ckers just hate to see someone succed don't you?
I wonder if the WSBK concessions for the R1 are the same as MA concessions??? I know they get a Pankl rod and piston in MA.
