Between work and some WERA rounds, I am looking to venture off into some different backgrounds this coming year such as Flat Track, MX, and maybe some Supermoto if time / money allows. I know there are camps such as American Supercamp, Cornerspin, and Slide School. However does anyone know of locations near PA where one can go learn, practice and/or club race Flat Track? Just looking to see how I could get started with this.
Thanks for posting this… I am thinking about building something just because I have no friggin idea about it either… considered doing it with my old RMZ but sold it…
Today was my first Day at Flat Track Slide School in Center Hill Florida at the Royal Enfield Slide School . Had a blast , but had 2 significant Issues . One , they didn’t have a Hot Shoe that would fit my Size 14 Boots .. so Sliding was difficult because my Road Race Boots wouldn’t slide worth a Crap , catching the clay and throwing my Foot into the gear lever which changed Gears on me .. the other issue is my Titanium Hip makes it difficult for this just turned 70 year old to put any real weight down cuz boot wouldn’t slide , it was constantly catching. Bottom line , I had a Blast , but won’t be coming Home with any Trophies.. Lol . With buy my own Hot Shoe to try again in the Future . Tomorrow is Race Day and I’ll try my Best but with out a shoe I’ll just try to stay out of the way of others .
This was last summer, but I think they do it every year. At my age i would 100% pay for instruction before i just got out there and wung it.
Yep, Moto Anatomy is just down the road from you Marc (in Perrone miles). I can see you out there eventually on a Bultaco in the Astro Cup!
I'm flying to Colorado for Danny Walker's 30th Anniversary camps in January / February, after doing my first racer camp last April in Gainesville. Your results may vary, but I remember what Danny, Robbie, Matty, Declan and others drilled and engrained into my brain evert single time I ride now.
I've searched high and low on the Moto Anatomy website and cannot find any information regarding their location. Edit: Found it
Maybe I'll see you there! Of course, I waited until the racer camp was filled up so I'll be doing the non-racer camp, but it should be fun. I've been playing around in my own little dirt track, pretending I know what I'm doing. I'm really looking forward to coming home with some actual drills and knowledge I can practicec.
https://bctra.com/ Lots of PA based people involved with them, but I never figured out where they all trained etc. , or I just don’t remember as I never did more with them aside from the indoor flat track they run. Worth sending a message. I did cornerspin last year primarily for roadrace improvements, but damn if it didn’t make things better and far more enjoyable on dirt, besides big jumps/mx stuff as mentioned. Got home from there, and immediately laid out an oval and dirtcourse in my backyard cutting through the side field. If I had an HOA, they’d have an aneurysm looking at my yard
I’m a HUGE proponent of American Supercamp, which does Springfield, IL, and camps in Delaware. A LOT of other DT schools are former Supercamp students.
Did you get the Tshirt? I taught a school for Aaron at VIR I think the year it opened… not sure who connected us but I was on the Rez and drove down early to hang out and teach before a race… just found the Tshirt from that school and it is neon orange… looks your size and squidlicious too… I’ll have to bring it to you when we finally get together one of these days
Yeah got a tshirt. Does fit funny, now that you mention it. Made for skinny folk, so its just a keepsake I’d like to go back at the end of the month, but between trying to either do tally next month plus all the damn bike projects I’ve taken on suddenly, I’m up in the air as usual
Where in PA are you? Rob Miller (https://www.theservicepavilion.com/#/) is pretty involved in flat track (as well as mini supermoto).
I had to wear this one over my leathers to teach… that’s why I said it was power lifter dude sized I hadn’t seen it in decades let alone try it on… count on going to VIR this year too so we can finally get together…
What’s at VIR? Didn’t think any bike stuff happened there anymore. I’ve never been able to make it there. Now it’s only 4ish hours away
The MotoAmerica round 8/14-16/26 is when I’ll be there for sure… I think there is an endurance round there this year too it’s my favorite track, well tied with MO, but MO tries to kill me … VIR is the only one I’ve never crashed at and can find the limits quickly with some of my best pro finishes there… won some endurances there too…
