I read an article American is doing that stuff now too. Doesn’t make sense to me, but I guess they make more money with customer disservice.

Insurance companies have been doing the same for years... they rely on people's passivity. Imagine the whole industry & related body shops just imploding from people just not paying premiums.

It's fun to listen to the tower when the storms roll through. LiveATC.net. Watching the weather radar, flightradar24.com, and listening to the tower and ramp. Good times. A few weeks ago, when they evactuated the tower, was interesting. Inbound flight from CDG stuck on the taxiway for an hour until they could get people on the ramp again and move planes from gates. That would suck as a passenger.
