Dainese down the toilet

I always liked their stuff,just never in my price range.Maybe KTM can partner with them..:)
Had one pair of Kushitani's was prolly nicest I ever owned.
 
The Dainese suits always fit me the best off the rack. I haven't seen a decline in quality over the years, but I have not seen a meaningful reaction to lower cost brands entering the market.

What struck me in that report was an $86M goodwill impairment. Which if I understand it correctly, is effective a write down of the $86M because the value of the brand was deemed $86M under the market value of its assets. Happy to be corrected.
 
Dainese were not meant for people with built arms. Def for the euro arms that have biceps the size of my forearm. My A* suit as been holding up so well. 4 crashes and only damage is in the stretch area where I think a footpeg caught it. I bought a new suit (same thing) but still rock my crashed suit as it fits so well too.
 
I crashed twice in 2002 at TWS with a off the rack Dainese suit purchased in Leicestershire UK. Not a scratch in either one.
Wonder if quality fell off...

On the other hand...fire sale!!!

I walked in to Cycle G the other day and they had a Sedici leather suit for $349 on sale :eek:

That's a shame. I'm a big fan of their stuff, not so much their pricing in the US. I bought a D-Air street jacket for $482 delivered from Italy when the pricing in the US was $950.
 
Bummer. The D store in Costa Mesa took great care of me quite a few years of my racing. The off the rack stuff fit me perfectly and was great quality. I am a fan of their roo-suits and especially their top end boots.
 
Yep on the Spencer.

I like their stuff. I have a few smaller items. Boots I bought in the LA store, a jacket I bought at the Indy GP (on the cheap), glove liners, and so forth. All high-quality stuff. I even liked the "boutique store" concept, as it was nice to be able to try stuff on just by taking at trip to a larger city. The last thing I looked at was all-weather gear at the store that used to be in the Ace Cafe in Orlando. I ended up buying Klim stuff, but their stuff was good too.

Their dedication to specific features (high collars on jackets, limited ventilation on jackets, etc.) was a problem though. Kept me from buying from them a few times.

I think the name is too important to die. Hoping they stay around in the quality off-the-rack realm, and don't dissolve into an expensive name on cheap products.

I sometimes wish that motorcycle stuff was big enough that you could browse gear in a large store and have some choice like in some other places.

Yes, I realize there are a few places nationwide, but I was talking about on a larger scale so that you could take a day trip from wherever in the states and browse. Or even walking into a sporting goods chain store and buying some good gloves, boots, jacket or a helmet.

We also have some dealers around me that are pretty good at stocking gear, so it is far from a desert, but the Dainese"factory stores" were (are still I guess) pretty nice.
 
Does AGV. TCX and the other brands that are owned by "Dainese" go in the sale? ;)

They'll be fine. They'll clean up their balance sheets, get rid of encumbrances and if they are sold, another equity group will buy them at a good price.
