Once you caved, did you like the exhaust?

I’m not sure I understand your question. What does increased contact patch and therefore expected higher performance and/or reliability have to do with exhaust?

I dont think its too far for you but if you can take a drive on a Saturday morning. The Rancho Santa Fe Cars and Coffee (upscale mansion area in North San Diego) always has a great showing of exotic cars. Easily 200 cars on display but all high end. Japanese, Italian, American, it never disappoints. You can also check them out on Insta (rsfcars) for an idea on what you will see there. Crazy stuff. People have way too much money. Every Saturday.

Thank you. Maybe someday, but luckily this one is only about 20 minutes away and is supposedly the largest one in the world. It's crazy how many Lamborghinis, Ferraris, GT3, GT4's, etc are there every week. Sometimes really wild stuff shows up. Like Koenigsegg or Pagani's. Last time I saw my first ever carbon Fiber Senna. If anyone is coming out to visit and wants to hit up this show, with advance notice, happy to go with you. I seem to make it every few months. Sometimes manufactures will show up with concept cars. A few months ago Redbull showed up with a F1 car.

You said earlier, that you caved to Fred, and let him change/upgrade the exhaust. Did you like the change?

I used to take cars to the original at Newport Coast. Those were the days. Crazy $$$ in south OC. Its like an alternate universe there.

Nice, maybe I will head up a little further to check that out but I think they swap weekends as I have seen some Koenigsegg (all carbon fiber car?) and others as well. My son knew more about them than I did. The zombie van that is bulletproof and has electric shocking on it? Im sure you have seen it. lol. Good stuff. Nice to have a free car show nearby.

Yeah I loved that one. The houses above that place were so expensive, the $100K -2 million car was nothing, and the guys would bring them out. I took Tyler there once and we started talking motorcycle racing with Dan Gurney. Dan picked up Tyler and sat him on his Gator motorcycle. I got to go over to Gurney's place in Santa Ana and see a bunch of his old stuff with one of his employees. The ocean view at the Newport Coast place is incredible, plus they used to start really early in the morning, which I prefer. The new one in San Clemente starts at 8:30-9am, whereas the old one we are already back home by 9am.

The cars and coffee show was really crazy when it left Newport Coast and went to the Ford design headquarters in Irvine, before it was shut down. Saw a guy unload a "street legal" funny car and idle into the show, running on nitro with open pipes. I had to stay until he left. He lit them up all the way down the road and it sound so cool, just like at the dragstrip, you could feel it in your chest.

PM me on here and we can meet up there sometime. It is every Saturday morning. Yea, the kids know more about the cars than I do too. Don't know that i've see the van?

Flashback 55 years and it looks like the corvette/mustang wars are heating up. They just put out a mustang GTD blurb with Verstappen driving...same time as Chevy puts out their Nurburing video. Next I evpect Verstappen to drive the GTD at the ring to regain the American (well at least the car....) title.

Great marketing idea. Then Chevy, via Cadillac grabs one of their new F1 drivers to take it back.

I don't think you're too old. I drive an older, well maintained pick up as my daily and I love it for a lot of reasons but the two top are: 1) its simplicity (everything is manual) 2) I'm invisible in it (figuratively) because its so run of the mill. Which is really nice bonus.

As for the CTR, I don't study that market, but $33K for a salvage title car seems bananas. IMO you dodged a bullet there.

I missed this and agree that the Type S is a great option. You give up some performance, but the car may certainly feel more under the radar. Then again...

The latest CTR '25+ is not too far from the Type S aesthetically and far less flashier than the previous anima inspired generation.

Going with my dad and the family tomorrow, bringing some of his cars. I think he'll have a blue 69 Shelby GT500, white 54 thunderbird, and I think his vintage spyders red spyder. Unfortunately, the 71 pagoda mercedes sl280 just got a huge valve stem oil leak (hopefully not a piston ring problem) and is out for the time being.

    Steeltoe What's my move?

You missed the point Chevy already beat the Mustang's time with non-pro drivers.

    What is.considered "older"?

  19. onesixsix

    onesixsix Oh, Bother

~ 20 years old. Why do you ask?

I kind of went through trying to keep an "older" pickup... it becomes a chore to keep viable. Hence my 1998 Dodge 5 speed cummins went on the block. Basically the body and gaskets became an issue.
