Hi. Just passed my race school and looking to hit the ground running. I was hoping to pull double duty with my two bikes this coming year in WERA. But I unfortunately totaled my CBR the other week at Road Atlanta. What are my best options for double duty with 1 (SV650) bike? Run in LWT SS and LWT SB? Group E and D are out of the question. Group C is really for 600cc I-4 Supersports but a 645cc twin is allowed. I know I'll get my ass hammered here and it probably wouldn't be worth it. Looks like Formula 2 allows the SV and the times are pretty spread apart (fast - slow) from what I see on speed hive, so it seems like a possibility. I'd rather not make assumptions though. I'd like to hear some veteran thoughts on this.
Double duty as in 2 bikes? Don’t do that as a newbie. Focus on one. Or double duty as in multiple classes on one bike? Yes do that. Do as many classes as possible/legal/afford per weekend.
LWT SS and LWT SB typically have the largest grid sizes of your options. You also fit in F2 and V7MW with any year SV650 if you want to do more than two races. The pace in novice is really broad regardless of the class so speedhive isn't always the best gauge on picking classes.
Yup LWTSS, LWTSB, and F2 are your playground on an SV. In the past Ive seen fast SV guys in practice sessions with the C class experts , but not racing against them. You may could bump to HWTSS as well on the SV....
No on the 650 in C. Not allowed unless you can show me you're fast enough on it to run with them. As they said, ride the SV in LW and F2 and don't do two for now.
