Not even sure what companies have this information but let me know if it's something you can help with.

Depending on a boat and a price point getting a marine survey is a better idea. Some insurance companies require to have a marine survey to establish a policy. Again, depends on a boat you are looking at. I am not aware of a "carfax" type of service.

Looking at 50ft plus or minus. Always do full survey but wanted to do a search for insurance claims before dropping a couple grand on the survey. Plus survey is non destructive so covered up damage probably won't be found.

Find out who serviced it and get permission from the current owner for the service records… There is no Car Fax type deal with boats.. Plus 1 on the survey.. Make sure it comes out of the water though.. if not a small trailer Haulout a average fee will be about $15 a foot to haul out..while it is out and bottom wet look for blisters on the hull… Make sure the surveyor checks for leaks in the shaft packing and rudder packing while en route..check the cutlass bearings, props, shafts, anodes ect once out. If it has drives on it which a 50 shouldn’t have check the bellows, drive lines and shift cables..If you are considering a 50 just be prepared to spend at least $8-9K a year on services… Including winterizations with the HVAC, Watersystems, Head, Motors and Generator..

50 foot motor or sail? Something else to consider - that size boat is at the limit of needing a crew to operate. Unless it’s a lake house boat, or something like that. 50 footer will take some serious coin to operate and maintain.

Im thinking at 50 a fuel fill will run 4k with some big twin diesels if its a cruiser .maybe 100gph at cruise. Doubt 6k on yearly maintenance will be a big deal. Then again he might be out chasing "he who can not be named" with a twin super charged big block multi.

All that's way outta my price point.

I've seen recently where some job openings in the international transport business have become available. Maybe he is making his play to be a future billionaire.

I know nothing about boats, yet my dream retirement house is to have a lake house with a dock and a boat. Having said all that, I presume you are going to pick a super unreliable boat, like you do with your cars? Or did the Tesla bring you over to a low maintenance, semi problem free experience?

I have several friends that are members of Freedom Boat Club here in Florida and for the most part love it. They dont have 50' anything though.

Has it been docked at the same place for a while? If so, ask around. Get the reputation of the owner. Ask the broker what yards have serviced it.

What kind and how old? Just curious.

Need help with a delivery? :)

We were looking at joining that in Dallas, if we had bought a house there. Seems like a really good way to do it, plus lots of different boat options.
