    Thank you for the offer.

A lap timer would be cool. I need to go see if i still have one laying around. I actually can't remember if they all went away on the bikes.

    * Stephen Laffoon, (SLLaffoon)

Rob, when you texted, I thought you were just going to do an easy trackday! Now you're gridding up!

Thanks for correcting I actually knew Laffoon and when I went back to correct, I ran out of time. Now on the Stephan/Stephen spelling, that mistake I could easily make again, but will try not to.

I imagine I will end up gridding up, but who knows? Back when I raced, they didn't have track days or tire warmers. So if you want to ride a track, you raced. Unless I really suck on the track day, or I get too tired/hurt, it would be extremely hard for me to skip the competition part.
    • I mean I already managed to go from borrowing a bike, to renting a bike, to buying a bike. @motion found the bike on facebook. I supposedly get it next week, after the owners mechanic is done with it.
    • Looks like I have bodywork that needs the fiberglass fixed from crash damage. @motion mentioned it would probably be okay with duct tape, but if I can swing the time I will reignite the old fiberglassing skills.
    • I've already tested my warmers out, have 4 working sets
    • Got my 6500 Honda generator running and asked the guy I loaned my 3000 Yamaha to return it. I can move the Yamaha myself, but the Honda I will need to leave in the bed of the truck.
    • Located riding boots..thanks @socalrider
    • Looking to buy a new helmet
    • Trying to lose enough weight in a few weeks to fit in my old leathers
    • Got out some of my old Pit Bull stands.
    • Have to see if I can find my transponder and reboot that bad boy
    • Looking to locate my old laptimer and reboot that thing too.
So yea, after all of that in a short period of time, if I make it through a day of practice, I plan to race.

My goals will be to stay upright, and not finish in last place. Hopefully more achievable versus my younger goals of "win it or bin it".

It's funny. I never had people mix Stephen/Stephan until I moved west. It was always Stephen/Steven. It doesn't bother me too much, except when my payroll specialist gets it wrong or when the teenager at Shake Shack won't give me my food because he claims to have never seen "Steven" spelled "Stephen" (both actually happened, haha).

Back to the topic, glad to see you getting out there! Speaking of tire warmers, I have a set, as well as an EU2000i if you need them. You're welcome to either/both. The generator could always use some exercise, and it's hard for me to find an excuse to run a full tank through it. I have stands too, but sounds like you're good there.

I don't think I have too much that would fit the Ninja 400 if you need help prepping, but let me know if there's anything I can do to help. I can make brackets and spacers pretty easily, and I have a couple steering dampers rolling around in my toolbox.

PS, I can't offer a transponder because it's still getting good use on our champcar/lucky dog MR2, including the Sept 27-28 weekend at CMP. I thought it was pricy when I bought it, but never thought I'd get 20 good years out of it!

Got a HJC RPHA12 large brand new in the box for CHEAP. Problem is, I’m on the wrong coast.

I’m only a medium head and size 11 feet, so I’m not keeping up with you size 12. @beac83 or size large helmet boys. Good thing I’m already married or the girls would assume everything else is equally smaller and I would only get the last choice leftovers. Lolol

The best, biggest help would be for you to come out and enjoy the track with me. I know you have awesome skills to fab stuff, I have no clue if I need any of that? Thank you for mentioning it, I will keep it in mind.

Thanks for the generator offer too. I should be good if my Yamaha 3000 makes it back to me before the race. I had a Honda 2000 and Yamaha 2400 but they both walked away when my shop was broken into. Fortunately I loaned out the 3000 or the thieves would have gotten it too. They only left the big heavy ones.

He's gotta make it thru new racer's school first! I think he has to do a 2:05 to graduate (that's what it used to be IIRC).

    Bets?

In another note I just learned that the title from this bike has a stamp on it that says for export only. It was a salvage copart purchase like a lot of race bikes are. The owner was listed as GEICO, but it has a big rubber stamp on the California title saying for export only. Is that something I have to be concerned about? Obviously it’s not been put into the name of the previous owner nor will be put into my name

What about tires? Dunlop will be there, but you can get away with running Stinko DOTs if you run low on money or Mama starts putting the kabash on things.

No problem. Even the tech is soft. Its an honor system you safety wired everything no lower required to be removed for tech. Atleast in 2023.

I remember the local authorities made a pass through the paddock checking everyone's VIN on their trackbikes at an STT event at Putnam. I don't think anyone got busted.

I will take a bet he gets into the 1:3x's! Not sure what times the 400's are running there.

Liter bikes will be around 1:26-1:27 to get on the box
600's will be 1:28-1:29 to get on the box
So I imagine the 400's prob need to be 1:35-ish to get on the box?

Not as quick as a Wera weekend fast or CRA weekend. Those were roughly the times that won as a reference.

Four pages, and I still don't know when this race is. Schedule says the track is closed. I've never been to Willow. Maybe I'll blow the dust the Panigale. Fill me in!

    socalrider pathetic and rude

I "think" it's October 5th? Gathered from context clues but I might be off.

The main clue is the thread title of course.

Linders will be my new hot GF if he can get in the 39's! I'll lavish Boxsters and Kramers on him!

It used to take high 39's to win Ninja 250 races back in the day. Best I ever did was a 1:40.6 IIRC.
