This article states China has production capacity for 30 million ICE powered cars as well as 20 million electric cars. Since electric vehicles are dominating sales inside China, China has excess ICE capacity and is exporting ICE vehicles like crazy all over the world. Evidently Mexico is one of their largest markets. https://www.reuters.com/investigati...h-gasoline-cars-it-cant-sell-home-2025-12-02/ This link shows their amazing growth since 2020. https://www.reuters.com/graphics/CHINA-AUTOS/GASOLINE-EXPORTS/znvnqklxopl/media-embed.html
So EVs are like all the fake empty cities China builds to give the illusion of prosperity. And @cu260r6 and other shallow thinkers take it all as gospel.
China is smogged the fuck out in the city They need to only do EV car sales for a while As much as the epa is a thorn in my side at work, they are a necessary body.
a GM in china i talked to this am said "china economy is in a dark moment , there is no light" meaning recession without a path out of it. they just stick to their 5y plan and hope for the best.
China thought they would be selling a bunch of electric cars in this country soon, but I don't think so...
Its nice to see Chyna overbuilt in other areas besides Chemical production. Wonder when they will let free market take over and some of their capacity will have to go?
Still only a little over a million US exports and China is exporting over 5 million. I was actually surprised how much they have grown and how much capacity they have.
I would never buy a Chinese made car, but this doesn’t concern me much. What does concern me is ship building. China is the largest ship builder in the world, by far, and our market share has shrunk to nothing. If ww2 were faught today, we would be in a world of hurt. What was our advantage, would be our Achilles
There's a ton of articles online about the fields full of electric cars that have not and never will be sold. Like the electric scooters, bicycles and the other crap that's going to be the next big thing. Some of the electric cars I got hauled around in were pretty damn alright. Nicer than a lot of the shit boxes available in the US. I'd never buy one because I have zero clue on how they'd age but priced right it'd be interesting to see how they'd do in the US.
I see a lot of them back home. They actually look pretty good. I may look in to byd electric when I move.
Well I actually kinda like cars and read about them quite a bit. So I figured if I was surprised China had grown that much in exports, others maybe interested in that too? Wasn’t trying to start any political stuff, and it doesn’t seem to have, but if that’s how it’s perceived, I guess I will earn my first vacation?
I wasn't suggesting that it's going to get political. Just that it will be indistinguishable from the other two active EV threads (of which you started the most recent one) within a couple of pages. Just wait till the usual half dozen flies catch a whiff of it.
Hey Rob, didn’t you have a Lotus? Wasn’t the first Tesla built on/in one? Way before Elon… the original guys that started it… and check out the Milburn model 27 electric… that’s what you need!
