ATL Metro: MAJOR Interstate Closure & Detour! (285 Westside) May 8-11

Where are you heading and what are you driving?

There are plenty of way to avoid ATL (I can't remember the last time I came through the 20/285 interchange even towing the 5th wheel) but overall on a Sunday night the traffic that would normally go south on 285 will just go into the city and you'll be able to head north on 285 from 20.

 

Damn, down by 285 you might as well just deal with the traffic sadly. Friday won't be an issue with the closure until 7 so you should be good there. Sunday could be screwed.

Up to where we are I've been having fun going through serious backwoods GA through Rome and then over to Alabama and down to Oxford. It's been great, even my normal run off off at Villa Rica then up to Cartersville and over isn't bad. But for getting to Sandy Springs maybe look at jumping off in Douglasville and angle up to the East West connector back to 285 in Vinings. I'd play it by ear and look at traffic maps. Or take the scenic route through Cartersville or Rome, over through Canton then back down 400
