I have/ had a few Tissots and nothing to complain or crow about. They just work. well, one complaint but minor. My one is a quartz with all kind of gizmos and functions. The battery goes fast but whatever to that.
Ah, there's your problem. You spelled automatic wrong... Just kidding. I have a Scurfa quartz that I cannot kill no matter how hard I try. Thanks for the info.
Yeah, I can’t think of much to say about them other than I haven’t killed one, I wasn’t robbed of any of them and I just never really thought all that much about them. That’s praise from me on Tissot I guess.
I have an older Seastar 1000 chrono that I wore daily for years and never skipped a beat. Tissot is a solid brand for sure.
Thinking about a Breitling Avenger Chronograph Automatic Green Dial Men's Watch AB0147101L1X1. Anyone familiar with them, or Breitling watches in general?
Are Swiss watches actually any cheaper to buy in Switzerland? I might be spending a day or two there later this year.
Major brands: No. Not just No but hell No. I got an Oris there and that was cheaper but I probably could have done better in the US. @Alex_V not really qualified to answe since I only had one Breitling but it was an emergency that I got new very cheap but it was the biggest piece of shit I’ve ever owned. Long story but I was eventually able to get it replaced. I’m positive that was a 1 in a million case and what they sell now it’s not the case but that was my experience.
Thanks Dave K. Your opinion was the one that I was counting on since I know that you are both the king of cheapness and experienced with travel to Europe. I will be a newbie...
Nice! Where in Switzerland are you hitting? Where else in Europe are you going? I’m weird, I love Switzerland.
Online they look about $3500....Im not a fan of most Breitling's, from a style point so I would find something else in green if that's what i wanted. I also dont think they hold value well. In the price range I would look at Tudor, Omega, etc... Good luck
Nothing is set in stone just yet but I have paid a very small deposit to hold a cabin for me on an 8-day river cruise up the Rhine from Basel to Amsterdam. Now I considering tacking on a couple of extra days at either end (or both) simply because I have never been to Europe before. There is also a shore excursion (for more $$) in Cologne for beer tasting and dinner that has caught my eye. I have until late February to either pull the trigger or pull the plug. I am really leaning towards pulling the trigger and paying the pretty sizable balance due. It is nice to be retired and have some discretionary funds available.
Ah Basel, nice! An underrated place imho. You can stay in Switzerland and wave your penis at France and Germany at the same time. If you’re into museums and “culture” it’s great. A bit industrial in parts but I dig it. Oh, if you’re into white wine, you’re very near the white wine and asparagus area of the DE. not really great for shopping since Switzerland is expensive af but still cool. :up;
For that $7k retail you have A LOT of competition. Almost all Tudor chronographs are in that range. I’ll sell you a very nice back bay chrono for $4k. There are also options from Omega and IWC that I would consider superior. You’re close to GO or even possibly a Zenith. On the other hand, if this is the one you love you should get it.
