The 10 to 0 portions are countdown timers not part of the time telling... You guys really don't know where the 1 through 12 are on a watch dial without them being spelled out?
FWIW I am just guessing on the countdown shit, I have no clue why it could be useful in boat racing but knowing Rolex it matters.
I want the exact time! Why's it so hard for them to paint a lil mark there to tell me? If it's 8:11 I wanna know. CP time requires knowing exactly how late I am gonna be.
Each square is an hour mark with four minute marks in between - that's more than a lot of watches out there for detailed time telling. If you don't know the second square is the hour 2 and the minute 10....well, there ain't much I can do for ya.
Because, it is a sailing watch with the count down (mongo explained it). Want a watch that tell you what time it is without any other functions and just 12 numbers on it? Buy a Timex. or an IWC Big Pilot.
Oooooo. I get it now. I didn't even notice the squares and stuff cause I was lookin at all them numbers going every which-a-way.
Go check it out in person. The photos don't do it justice. It wears a bit bigger than 42mm but is not insane. The 391007 (that watch) is one of the finalist for my next watch although I may have the AD tweak it for me.
Couple questions for you guys. Do you think buying online hurts the value of the watch down the road any? Tissot makes some pretty nice stuff. Definitely not top of the line, but still a damn nice watch. Looking to get myself into a Tag, and pick up my son something nice for graduation. I would like to get him something nice enough that isn't going to be worthless the minute he opens the box.
Well, long term, the current Tags are going to lose the majority of the value. Not because they are "bad" or anything but because they make a lot of them and watch snobs hate Tag. Tissot will hold almost no value, long or short term. Buy what you like and screw the long term value. If you have to buy something that'll hold its value or actually increase, you're looking at other brands. Rolex, Patek, A. Lange and some others. Buying Gray market hurts your value in the immediate but long term, no one will really care (as long as the serial numbers are untouched).
You know what is a bargain that'll last? Oris and Hamiltons. Check out their automatics and I'll not hesitate to buy gray market (jomashop). Cheaper than Tag and very good quality. Oris only makes automatics and are fantastic for the price point.
Yeah in between checking out watches I will never be able to afford, Hamiltons and Oris have some nice stuff too. Graham, Ball, and Audemars Piguet are just pipe dream watches for me. Guess I shall have to check out what they have in the shops and see what turns my crank. The Tag Link I checked out was pretty damn sweet, but yeah I understand it's not a uber nice watch either.
Hamilton sells some real nice watches under the $600 level. Nothing wrong with a quartz movement. There are some Oris well under $800.
