Yup, they're what's on my TZ250 I'f i'd know he was stopping, I would have grabbed a spare set and thrown them in the basement, especially considering his shop is about 15 minutes from where I live...
Don't know when this showed up. But seems like Gustafsson purchased the molds. Any info on this would be appreciated. https://www.airtechmoto.com/
I just received an email from Gustafsson as a previous buyer from Airtech. This might have a bunch of information that you (and others in this thread) would be happy to see.
Great news. Truly preserving a legacy. I wonder if Gustafson will use their own blend of resin/glass/etc. It always seemed like Airtech was a bit heavier and stiffer than Sharkskinz/Armourbodies.
It’s that errythang has been preserved. Now what about all those stories/rumors of everything getting pitched in the dumpster?
That's what I've been thinking/wondering, I saw this the other night and then I was thinking.... wait.... didn't they pitch it all?
This is good news. Funny, just the other day I found a drill bit in my toolbox that Gustafsson included for drilling a windshield I bought from them in 1997. Moving 7,000 molds across the country, yeezus.
They have redone some things on the site now: https://launch.airtechmoto.com/info1722869203161 Looks like the "old" site is still up at a different url: https://motobody.com/index.html
Cool story. Good ending. I read on the internet that it was better to throw your life’s work of 7000 molds in dumpsters than try sell them. I wonder how many dumpsters it would take to hold 7000 molds, and how much THAT decision would cost. At least the story ended exactly like I knew it would…
Great news. Hopefully the new owner of the AirTech molds, will start producing the products w/ a lot more flex to them (ala:sharkskinz). They were super lite, yet super brittle. That white gel coat would start spiderwebbing from the get go. Add some flex agents (or however you get more flex out of fiberglass) and make them even better. This is Great news the molds are safe, and will/are going to be used again to make hard to find glass panels!
