Honestly with the top guys it's really not. It's usually only if there's a podium on the line or the dude has been blocking like a knob for a few laps.

I actually never bought that. I am convinced that they just play that character because they simply don't have a choice. They can't contain their natural tendencies for long, so they keep saying and doing the things that cunts say and do. Once that's been established as your personality, choices are change (which usually proves to be impossible, and the reason they are who they are to begin with), quietly hate yourself, or convince yourself that you love it by trying to convince others that you do.
I once stayed at a Holiday Inn and they gave me a degree in psychology at checkout.

And during the weekend you are talking about, Corporate Yamaha called the dealer, told them to tell the kid to lay down, or lose your dealership. Then, even though the kid did, the dealer pulled the kid's sponsorship, a few weeks later. Went to Europe later that year, and things fell apart there too. He cant get a ride at all now. Yeah, FUCK THE DEEGAN'S.
